MacIntyre on Canucks: Short-term move is not worth sacrificing long-term plan
December 14 2017
Sportsnet's Iain MacIntyre joins Satiar Shah and Alex Auld on SN650 to look more deeply at the Canucks' latest skid. The veteran skaters are not playing well enough and not showing their experience. He doesn't expect a short-term move at the expense of the long-term plan, but nor would this be the right choice for the club.

December 12 2017

Batchelor on Canucks at Jets: It will be 'awfully hard' for Vancouver tonight
December 11 2017
Play-by-play commentator Brendan Batchelor joins Satiar Shah and Alex Auld on Canucks Central @ Noon to preview the team's trip to Winnipeg to face the Jets. What started as a little rain is now a downpour given the many injures affecting Vancouver's top line. He expects to see Nikolay Goldobin in the lineup, but where is TBD. Alexander Burmistrov has been gifted opportunity but hasn't done much with it. Goaltending will be key, especially against the many offensive weapons in Winnipeg.

Sidelined with mono, he's been back only a few days and is "right back where he was" and working to become a complete, 200-foot player. He talks Philadelphia's sports fandom and ranks former (waaaay former, think peewee) teammates, Alex Auld and Corey Hirsch.

December 06 2017
Hockey analyst Doug MacLean joins Alex Auld and Sat Shah on Canucks Central @ Noon to talk about the player he drafted in 2006, Derek Dorsett. "He's always been a classy kid." On the surprises and disappointment in the NHL standings so far, he predicts a dog fight and says the the Edmonton Oilers and Calgary Flames are both feeling "a tonne of heat" to turn around their seasons. Can the Vancouver Canucks and Vegas Golden Knights hold on?

December 05 2017
Sportsnet's Iain MacIntyre joins Sat Shah and Alex Auld on Canucks Central @ Noon to preview what could be a challenging game, "mentally and physically," given the extended road trip and the two most recent high-octane, emotional wins in Nashville and home against Toronto. December 04 2017
Canucks play-by-play analyst John Shorthouse joins Sat Shah and Alex Auld on Canucks Central to pick apart Vancouver's win over visiting Toronto. "I like the way things lineup right now," he says, noting he sees more energy from the Sedins and argues it's because they have to be efficient playing fewer minutes. Hirsch on Canucks search for answers: 'It's time to try Goldobin'
November 29 2017
Canucks colour commentator Corey Hirsch joins Sat Shah and Alex Auld on Canucks Central @ Noon to pick apart Vancouver's six-game road trip with one final date tomorrow in Nashville. They need a better effort, otherwise look out for a spanking from the red-hot 9-1-1 Preds. Jake Virtanen continues to make defensive errors and the goaltending is suspect. Finally, an answer to the question on everyone's mind: "It's time to try Goldobin."

'All Night Long' satire celebrates simple hockey with Alex Auld and Satiar Shah
November 28 2017
Skate. Hit. Meat. It doesn't make a lot of sense... until it makes perfect sense. Satiar Shaw said Jake Virtanen needs to think simply: "See puck, get puck, shoot puck." And Alex Auld reduced that to his own kind of Neanderthal speak, which was then expertly mixed with Lionel Richie. Those meat sweats, man. They mess you up.

Auld on Canucks' Goldobin: NHL call-up a reward that should lead to ice time
November 28 2017
Alex Auld and Satiar Shaw weigh in on the ways social media affects hockey today after Nikolay Goldobin reportedly liked the Instagram account of the KHL. "The fact that a Russian-born player likes the KHL is not a sign he is leaving," says Auld. By all accounts, Goldy wants to play in the NHL and he's on the cusp of cracking into the Canucks' lineup if the coach taps him. If that doesn't happen at some point, the possibility of returning to Russia is not never a possibility and Vancouver has been burned before. (Cough, cough Tryamkin.)

November 23 2017
Sportsnet's voice of the Canucks on radio, Brendan Batchelor calls in to chat with Sat Shah and Alex Auld about Brock Boeser's shot, Derrick Pouliot's return to Pittsburgh and maybe his former self, the latest with Erik Gudbranson, and what can be learned from seeing Anders Nilsson after seven games. What's working on the PK? Boeser at the point plus Bo Horvat's grunt work. (Enjoy the host's giggles off the top. That theme song, tho...)

Doug MacLean on Canucks and Benning: Hire him, fire him, make a decision
November 22 2017
NHL analyst Doug MacLean joins Satiar Shah and Alex Auld on Sportsnet 650 to talk about what's working for the Canucks on the ice. In two words, it's Brock Boeser. Elsewhere, on the negotiations Jim Benning, the former GM says the club should get to the point already with a manager who deserve credit for good moves. "If you don't want the guy, fire him." If you do, add at least a year. "It's not a good feeling, trust me."

Alex Auld on why Brock Boeser is breaking out: 'The sky is the limit'
November 22 2017
Alex Auld talks with Satiar Shah on Canucks Central @ Noon about all the things that make Brock Boeser special. He couples a unique release with a sniper shot along with a relaxed demeanour and has plenty of time to improve his strength and foot speed. Also, he's on a line with complimenting players and he's already respected by his elders. "Daniel and Henrik and a lot of veterans of that era like a rookie who can contribute and can play but isn't over the top. They love that in Bo Horvat and they love that in Brock Boeser."

"His pedigree on finding talent is pretty darn good." On where Bo Horvat ranks, he says the forward is "one of a kind" thanks to speed and physicality needed for a two-way centerman.
