Did you pick the Titans to beat the Patriots? Jawn Jang did...
January 15 2018
We're all friends here at SN650. Except when we're picking favourites. Jawn Jang made an out-there prediction about the Tennessee Titans. It turned out to be wrong, but three cheers for putting himself out there, right? "I just want to see a little bit of chaos in New England," he said about a possible upset. "A little bit of anarchy in the most successful franchise in modern history would serve football fans quite well." Steve Darling, an unabashed fan of Tom Brady and the Patriots, had a rebuttal. A rebuttal that made long and short of Jang's arguments.

Maple Leafs still a strong destination for Gudbranson, but not for Marner
January 12 2018
Renaud Lavoie, NHL analyst with TVA Sports, talks about potential moves for the rebuilding Vancouver Canucks. The problem right now is a lack of depth since they are not playing badly. He's impressed with prospects playing in the AHL and talks trade potential for Thomas Vanek, Chris Tanev and even Alex Biega. With Erik Gudbranson, the Leafs could work a trade for Connor Brown but there is also possibility he goes to the Tampa Bay Lightning. "You're not doing your job if you're losing UFAs without getting something in return."

Canucks culture suddenly positive despite years-long losing skid
January 10 2018
Colby Armstrong, an analyst with Sportsnet HockeyCentral, likes watching the Canucks because he really appreciates their work ethic. Give Travis Green credit for inspiring the room. "It's an honest, solid approach." He talks Jim Benning, Elias Pettersson and Brock Boeser (because who isn't?). Evander Kane has "swagger" but also a lot to offer the right club. Winnipeg doesn't deserve to be dissed as a city, but not everyone loves the dark and cold. Besides, the building and fans are "awesome," says the former NHLer. The Vegas Golden Knights are not only winning but also "super fun to watch."

Will this NFL weekend feature three thrillers and one dud?
January 09 2018

Corey Hirsch on stopping Ovechkin, playing Goldobin, trusting Travis Green
January 09 2018
The colour commentator for SN650 calls in from Washington, D.C. to preview the Canucks visit with the Capitals. He expects to see a team that competes but is over-matched. "But I see development, which is good." Against Alex Ovechkin, you need a game plan. Derrick Pouliot can be briefly "lackadaisical" and this leads to costly mistakes. Nikolay Goldobin is building confidence and needs ice time. "He will start to show you little flashes of skill."
