BIRMINGHAM, Ala. — IndyCar will race at Barber Motorsports Park at least through 2016 under a contract extension announced Sunday.

The three-year extension between IndyCar and ZOOM Motorsports ensures the open-wheel series at least one stop a year in the South. IndyCar first visited the 17-turn, 2.38-mile permanent road course in 2010.

Barber opened in 2003 and ZOOM has been the exclusive event promoter for the events at the park. The facility is considered one of North America’s finest road courses for car and motorcycle racing, and has served as the venue for several international product launches.

IndyCar is the track’s premiere event.

The facility also features the Barber Vintage Motorsports Museum, a 144,000 square-foot facility that houses more than 1,000 vintage and modern motorcycles from 17 different countries and 125 different manufacturers.
