Cena to wave green flag at Daytona
WWE superstar John Cena will drop the green flag at the Daytona 500.
Cena was named the Honourary Starter for the 54th annual Daytona 500 NASCAR Sprint Cup race on Feb. 26.
NASCAR driver Carl Edwards appeared on WWE's Monday Night Raw show and offered the job to Cena, who replied with an enthusiastic "Yes!"
"John Cena is the greatest Superstar in WWE today," Daytona International Speedway President Joie Chitwood III said in a press release. "We look forward to seeing him on the flag stand waving the green flag to start 'The Great American Race' and kick off the new NASCAR Sprint Cup Series season."
Cena is a 10-time World Champion and has starred in movies such as The Marine, 12 Rounds and The Reunion. He's also heavily involved in the Make-A-Wish Foundation and is on pace to grant his 300th wish, the first celebrity to reach that goal.
Previous Honourary Starters at Daytona include actor Ashton Kutcher, comedian Whoopi Goldberg and singer Mariah Carey.
