TORONTO -- Vernon Wells and John McDonald were activated from the disabled list Saturday ahead of the Toronto Blue Jays' matinee against the visiting Baltimore Orioles.
Wells is returning from a cracked left wrist suffered in Cleveland on May 9. The 29-year-old centre-fielder has appeared in 36 games this season, batting .281 with five home runs and a team leading 24 RBI. In two games on a rehab assignment, Wells was 4-of-8 with four RBI.
McDonald, who has appeared in 17 games this season, injured his ankle versus Tampa Bay on May 6. In three games at Dunedin on a rehab assignment, the infielder hit .364 with an RBI.
Right-handed pitcher Brian Wolfe was also recalled from Syracuse, returning from a triceps strain.
To make room on the roster, second baseman Aaron Hill was placed on the 15-day disabled list, pitcher Armando Benitez was designated for assignment and infielder Joe Inglett was optioned to triple-A Syracuse.
