Derek Jeter's 'heir' headed to Jays instead
March 15, 2010 | Source: New York Post
Cuban refugee shortstop Adeinis Hechavarria is going to get more money than the $8 million Jose Iglesias received from the Red Sox, The Post has learned.
However, it won't be from the Yankees. And that fact has nothing to do with the Yanks not wanting to spend the money on Hechavarria.
According to an industry source, Hechavarria is close to signing a $10 million deal with the Blue Jays -- because he doesn't envision himself playing short for the Yankees.
