Nationals center fielder Nyjer Morgan said he is fully recovered from his right hamstring injury and would like to play Monday against the Mets, but manager Jim Riggleman said Morgan will not play in an exhibition game until Thursday against the Tigers at Space Coast Stadium. Riggleman does not want Morgan to travel with the team to Lakeland, Fla., and Tampa when it plays the Tigers and the Yankees, respectively. Morgan received 10 at-bats in an intrasquad game on Saturday, but he was not allowed to run. He was expected to do similar activities Sunday. "I think he is real close, I have to get my information from the trainer and medical staff -- more so than from Nyjer." Riggleman said. "They are indicating that they don't want him to play Tuesday or Wednesday.
