Rogers Sportsnet is now the exclusive broadcaster of Toronto Blue Jays games, with all 162 games of the 2010 season to be shown on the network.
An agreement between the Blue Jays, Rogers Sportsnet and TSN was announced Thursday that will transfer 25 games to Rogers Sportsnet that were originally to be broadcast on TSN or TSN2.
“Sportsnet is extremely pleased that a satisfactory arrangement was worked out with the Jays and TSN," Sportsnet president Doug Beeforth said. "We look forward to our role as the Jays' flagship television carrier.”
The change is effective beginning with the Blue Jays game against the Twins on Tuesday, May 18. (The Blue Jays series with Texas May 14-16 and the game vs. Minnesota on Monday, May 17 will be shown on an alternate channel because of a schedule conflict with the Memorial Cup.) In exchange, Rogers Sportsnet will transfer its coverage of Sunday Night Baseball to TSN, beginning May 16.
“It was felt that with the multitude of channels that Rogers Sportsnet now offers that the Blue Jays and their fans would be best served by having one network produce and distribute our games,” said Paul Beeston, the Jays' president and CEO.
