ARLINGTON, Texas -- The Texas Rangers have acquired right-handed pitcher Tim Wood from the Pittsburgh Pirates in a waiver deal.
The Rangers got Wood on Thursday for either a player to be named or cash. Texas optioned Wood to triple-A Round Rock.
The 28-year-old Wood was 0-3 with a 5.63 earned-run average in 13 games for Pittsburgh this season. He was leading the triple-A International League with 23 saves for Indianapolis.
The Pirates designated Wood for assignment last Friday.
