Felix Doubront is on the move.
Just days after the left-handed pitcher was designated for assignment by the Toronto Blue Jays, the club dealt Doubront to the Oakland Athletics in exchange for cash considerations before the 4 p.m. ET non-waiver deadline.
The 27-year-old made four starts — five total appearances — during his stint with the Blue Jays, posting a 1-1 record with a 4.76 ERA, 13 strikeouts, and five walks in 22.2 innings pitched.
“He started scattering a little bit, maybe he was overthrowing, I don’t know,” manager John Gibbons said following Doubront’s start against the Philadelphia Phillies this past Tuesday. “That was the difference in the game.”
Over six MLB seasons with the Blue Jays, Chicago Cubs, and Boston Red Sox, Doubront has a career 4.78 ERA.
