22 Days of Blue Jays: When curling meets baseball

Erica Dymond runs into the shyest Toronto Blue Jays fan ever.

By Brendan Emmett in Newfoundland

Saying goodbye to Newfoundland is going to be hard, but I know there’s so much still in store for us on Team East during the rest of the 22 Days of Blue Jays road tour.

Sunday was also goodbye for the Grand Slam of Curling in Paradise, Nfld., which was broadcast on Sportsnet.

22 Days People

The crossover between curling fans and Blue Jays fans there was awesome! There were people walking in with Blue Jays gear who didn’t even know we were gonna be there (and also some who did :D ).

I talked to several passionate fans, one who told me a story that Brad Gushue was asking him for score updates on the Blue Jays-Yankees doubleheader during his semifinal match! Is this true @BradGushue?

A tough loss for Gushue in the final, and a tough loss for the Jays in the final game of their series in New York, but overall I think both parties would call it a good weekend.

It was a quick morning in St. John’s and Paradise, but we still managed to sneak some time to take the #22DaysBlueJays Honda Pilot to Signal Hill.

22 Days Van

This is an appropriate time to shout out my cameraman and partner-in-crime Zachary Zaza (his real name… so sweet).

22 Days Stone

Zach, I’d be lost without you, bro. The two of us met when we took this trip, and now we’re pretty much inseparable (both by job and by nature).

After Signal Hill, Team East drove over 10 hours on the Trans-Canada Highway to catch a ferry for Monday morning to Nova Scotia. We’ve got a great team consisting of Zach, Sylvie, Tina and myself.

Halifax you ready?
