NEW YORK — The Oakland Athletics have brought right-hander Jharel Cotton back from the minors to start at Yankee Stadium and put righty Jesse Hahn on the 10-day disabled list.

The A’s recalled Cotton from Triple-A Nashville to pitch Saturday against New York.

There had been speculation the Athletics might also put righty Kendall Graveman on the DL because of a sore shoulder. But manager Bob Melvin said before the game that an MRI was clean and Graveman, who was scratched from starting Friday night, just needed more rest.

Hahn’s move was retroactive to Wednesday, a day after he exited a start after two innings because of shoulder trouble. He is 1-4 with a 3.81 ERA.

Cotton opened the season in the Oakland rotation, went 3-4 with a 5.68 ERA in seven starts and was sent to Triple-A on May 11. He won his two starts at Nashville, focusing on mixing up his pitches and throwing inside.

The 25-year-old Cotton made his major league debut last September and went 2-0 with a 2.15 ERA in five starts.
