Oakland Athletics reliever Sean Doolittle was ecstatic about the prospect of seeing Star Wars: The Force Awakens on Thursday, and he wasn’t going to be deterred by girlfriend Eireann Dolan’s lack of enthusiasm.
The first step for the 29-year-old was to don his finest Wookie suit and use a little misdirection to get Dolan geared up as well.
On the way to the movie Doolittle rocked out to iconic Star Wars music by John Williams while Dolan looked on in disbelief.
As the couple arrived at the theatre Doolittle acknowledged that his attire was causing him some discomfort, but his spirits remained high and he showed his pun game to be on point.
Itchy fur and all, the eccentric southpaw wound up giving the film a strong endorsement.
Dolan did not indicate on social media whether or not she felt the same way.
Doolittle pitched 13.2 innings for the Athletics last season with a 3.95 ERA and four saves after recovering from a shoulder injury. He is slated to open the 2016 season as the team’s closer.
