Baseball’s top prospect Yoan Moncada to make White Sox debut

Clayton Kershaw improves to 15-2 on the year thanks to an impressive outing against the White Sox that saw him strike out seven over as many innings strong as the Dodgers are now 30-4 in their last 34.

The consensus No. 1 prospect in baseball has touched down in Chicago.

Yoan Moncada, who has sat comfortably atop the prospect rankings on Baseball America and MLB Pipeline all season long, will make his debut with the Chicago White Sox on Wednesday night, batting sixth and playing second base against the Los Angeles Dodgers.

Signed as an international free agent out of Cuba by the Boston Red Sox in 2015, Moncada landed with the White Sox in a blockbuster trade that sent Chris Sale to Bean Town.

Moncada got a taste of the major leagues last season, starting four games at third base for the Red Sox and racking up 20 plate appearances.

This year, the switch-hitting 22-year-old has played 80 games for the Charlotte Knights, the White Sox’s triple-A affiliate, where he’s slashed .282/.377/.447 with 12 home runs and 17 stolen bases.
