The Red Sox acquired four-time all-star Craig Kimbrel from the San Diego Padres Friday in exchange for four prospects (including Manuel Margot and Javier Guerra). But should Dave Dombrowski and Co. have traded for a starter rather than a closer? Ken Rosenthal has a look at Boston’s alternatives.

The Los Angeles Dodgers and Washington Nationals have both expressed an interest in Tampa Bay relievers Brad Boxberger and Jake McGee, according to ESPN.com’s Jerry Crasnick.

The Astros and Tigers have also expressed interested in Boxberger and McGee, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reported. Topkin also notes that, although the Rays already dealt Nate Karns to the Seattle Mariners, the club could be looking to trade another starter. Topkin speculates that the team could look at deals for lefty Drew Smyly or lefty Matt Moore.
