KISSIMMEE, Fla. — Jose Bautista hit a two-run homer, Jose Reyes had a run-scoring triple and a double, and a Toronto Blue Jays split squad roughed up Julio Teheran and the Atlanta Braves for a 10-5 victory Sunday.
Teheran, set to start the Braves’ opener for the second straight year, allowed nine hits and six runs over 3 1-3 innings.
“It was just a bad outing,” said Teheran, who won 14 games each of the past two seasons and had a 2.89 ERA a year ago. “That happens.”
Teheran was hurt by some wild hops on the hard infield. “They say it’s like playing on concrete,” he said. “Nothing I can do about that.”
Bautista added an RBI single and walk to his homer, and Reyes scored three times for Toronto.
Marco Estrada, bidding for a spot in the Toronto rotation, gave up three hits over three scoreless innings as he bounced back from a rough relief outing in his previous appearance.
“I was thankful for the opportunity to get back out there so soon because I wanted to get that game out of the way,” said Estrada. “Everybody knows I love to start. I don’t know what I’ll do, but I feel more comfortable starting.”
Blue Jays second baseman Ramon Santiago, a non-roster invitee, broke a collarbone when he made a diving catch in shallow centre field with two on to end the first inning.
Joey Terdoslavich hit a three-run homer for the Braves. Ryan Goins, who entered the game when Santiago was injured, and Dioner Navarro each had two hits for the Blue Jays’ 16 hits.
STARTING TIME
Blue Jays: Estrada, acquired from Milwaukee during the during the winter in exchange for first baseman Adam Lind, had made his three previous appearances in relief, allowing seven runs while getting just two outs against Tampa Bay on Thursday. The right-hander, who had two strikeouts and one walk against the Braves, made 18 starts and 21 relief appearances for the Brewers last season, going 7-6 with a 4.36 ERA.
Braves: Teheran had allowed just four hits over five innings in his two previous starts and was particular sharp in his last outing, giving up just an unearned run on Tuesday against the New York Mets.
The right-hander struck out two and walked only one against the Blue Jays, but wasn’t getting the first pitch over for a strike.

Blue Jays: Outfielder Kevin Pillar (oblique) will rest for about a week. He hurt himself sneezing Saturday morning, but played against the New York Yankees. … Left-hander reliever Brett Cecil (shoulder) threw 25 pitches in a bullpen session Sunday back in Dunedin after tossing 10 the previous day. He is expected to make his spring debut in about a week.
Braves: Rookie infielder Jace Peterson is OK after fouling a ball off his leg Saturday, but didn’t play against the Blue Jays. Acquired from San Diego in the Justin Upton trade, Peterson is hitting .421 with a .522 on-base percentage in eight games.

Blue Jays: After a day off on Monday, the Blue Jays will play the New York Yankees in Tampa on Monday night. Left-hander CC Sabathia, coming off knee surgery, is scheduled to make his spring debut for the Yankees. Right-hander Drew Hutchison will start for Toronto.
Braves: Left-hander Alex Wood will make his third start as the Braves travel across Kissimmee to play Houston on Monday. He has allowed two earned runs over 4 2-3 innings this spring.
