Bautista comment worth remembering

Jose Bautista

TORONTO – Among the topics of discussion with Jose Bautista in the wake of his controversial ejection came the exchange below which worth filing away under things to remember later.

Toronto Star columnist Richard Griffin asked the Toronto Blue Jays slugger if he believed GM Alex Anthopoulos is dedicated to winning.

The reply? “I think he wants to win, I think he’s fully committed to winning.”

Griffin then asked if Bautista’s perception of the organization’s dedication to winning has changed.

“I don’t have enough information to answer that question,” answered Bautista.

That’s a pretty deft reply from someone who is very smart and measured with his words. Combined with his comments after the trade deadline, it seems that he’s wondering what’s going on above Anthopoulos.

The implications of that are unclear for now, but there’s no doubt this off-season will be one with more moving parts than usual.
