Bautista ‘disappointed’ by Jays’ quiet deadline

Jose Bautista didn't mince words after the trade deadline passed and the Blue Jays didn't make any moves, saying he was disappointed that the team didn't improve.

Toronto Blue Jays right fielder Jose Bautista told reporters that he’s displeased by his team’s decision to stand pat at the non-waiver trade deadline.

“I’m a little disappointed,” he said. “Other teams find a way to improve.”

Toronto’s main competition — the New York Yankees, Baltimore Orioles and Seattle Mariners — all made moves Thursday. The Yankees traded for Martin Prado and Stephen Drew, the Orioles traded for Andrew Miller and the Mariners obtained Austin Jackson.

Casey Janssen also expressed disappointment with the team’s decision to hold off on making moves.
