Blue Jays 2B Travis to start rehab stint Friday

Toronto Blue Jays second baseman Devon Travis has joined the triple-A Buffalo Bisons on an MLB injury rehab assignment.

Travis will be in the Bisons’ lineup Friday night leading off as the designated hitter in the first game of a scheduled doubleheader.

The 24-year-old was placed on the 15-day disabled list on May 22 with a left shoulder injury.

In 36 games played with the Blue Jays, Travis was batting .271/.336/.504 with seven home runs and 26 RBI.

The Blue Jays have also announced that right-handed pitcher Todd Redmond has cleared waivers and been outrighted to Buffalo.
