Blue Jays activate Aaron Sanchez, option Delabar

Pitcher Aaron Sanchez joins Barry Davis to talk about going on the DL and now being recalled by the Toronto Blue Jays and possibly seeing work against the Seattle Mariners.

Aaron Sanchez is back with the Toronto Blue Jays.

The club announced Saturday afternoon that the 23-year-old pitcher has been activated from the disabled list. To make room for Sanchez on the 25-man roster, veteran pitcher Steve Delabar was optioned to triple-A Buffalo.

Sanchez, who is moving into a relief role after opening the 2015 campaign as a starting pitcher, has been sidelined since early June with muscle strain in his upper back.

The right-hander recorded 3.55 ERA with 42 strikeouts and 37 walks in 66.0 innings before landing on the disabled list.

Delabar, 32, registered a 3.33 ERA with 29 strikeouts, 12 walks, three home runs allowed in 27 innings of work with the Blue Jays this season.

Entering Saturday’s game against the Seattle Mariners, the Blue Jays have a 49-49 record and are 5.5 games behind the New York Yankees.
