Toronto Blue Jays catcher J.P. Arencibia is engaged to country singer Kimberly Perry.
According to The Tennessean, Arencibia proposed to Perry at her home in Greenville, Tenn., on Monday.
Perry thought she was going to dinner with her family, but Arencibia was outside her home and proposed to her under an oak tree.
“I came back out on the front porch and he was standing there and he got down on one knee. It was perfect,” Perry said to The Tennessean.
Arencibia and Perry met in Feb. 2012 at the Florida Strawberry Festival and plan to wed next summer.
The 27-year-old catcher struggled with Toronto in 2013, hitting a paltry .194 for the season, with 148 strikeouts.
Prior to joining the Blue Jays, Arencibia played at the University of Tennessee.
Perry, 30, is a member of The Band Perry.
