The Toronto Blue Jays have called up right-handed reliever Bo Schultz from triple-A Buffalo, Sportsnet’s Barry Davis reported Thursday night.
A roster spot opened earlier in the day when the Blue Jays optioned reliever Scott Copeland to Buffalo.
The 29-year-old Schultz is 2-1 with seven saves and a 1.69 ERA over 21.1 innings for the Bisons this season. He’s walked seven and struck out 18, while holding batters to a .203 average.
Schultz was a career minor leaguer until last season, when he briefly pitched for the Arizona Diamondbacks. He appeared in four games and was hit hard in his eight innings of work, allowing seven runs on 13 hits.
