Blue Jays designate J.P. Howell, Mike Ohlman for assignment

The Toronto Blue Jays have designated left-hander J.P. Howell and catcher Mike Ohlman for assignment, the team announced on Wednesday.

Howell appeared in three games for the Blue Jays after he was called up in early August, surrendering one earned run in 2.1 innings of work.

Ohlman, meanwhile, went 1-for-4 in two appearances for the Blue Jays.
