Blue Jays’ Encarnacion named to American League all-star team

TORONTO – Toronto Blue Jays first baseman/designated hitter Edwin Encarnacion is an all-star for the third time after being named to the American League squad on Tuesday night.

Previously chosen in 2013 and ’14, he entered play Tuesday with a big-league best 76 RBIs to go with his team high 22 home runs, and was the driving force behind his team’s strong June.

Encarnacion features a .264/.356/.541 slash line while appearing in a league high 85 games, including Tuesday.
