TORONTO – The Toronto Blue Jays have hired Mike Murov to serve in the newly created position of baseball operations director.

Murov had been in the Boston Red Sox organization since 2010, most recently as the team’s assistant director of major league operations.

In his new role, the Oakland native will support the baseball operations department in creating and implementing decision-making systems and processes, the Blue Jays said Sunday in a release. Murov will also assist in the preparation and analysis of financial, statistical, and contractual information, co-ordinating contract negotiation and arbitration preparation.
