Blue Jays hopeful Tulowitzki could return to lineup Friday

Blue Jays manager John Gibbons talks about dodging a bullet with the Troy Tulowitzki injury scare, and says the all-star shortstop might even play Friday night.

The Toronto Blue Jays appear to have “dodged a bullet” in the words of manager John Gibbons. Troy Tulowitzki, who was hit by a pitch on the hand Wednesday, could return to the lineup as soon as Friday.

Tulowitzki’s day-to-day with a bone bruise after taking a pitch on the knuckles of the first and second fingers on his right hand. X-rays were negative.

Meanwhile, the Blue Jays are hopeful that Edwin Encarnacion’s oblique will have healed enough for him to play in a minor league game soon.

The Blue Jays open the regular season April 3 against the Tampa Bay Rays.
