Slugger Jose Bautista has been activated from the disabled list and will be batting lead-off Monday as the Toronto Blue Jays kick off a three-game series against the San Diego Padres Monday.
Bautista, who will be in right field for the series opener, has been sidelined since mid-June with turf toe. He is batting .230/.360/.455 with 12 home runs and 41 RBI in 65 games played this season.
Outfielder Junior Lake was designated for assignment to make room for Bautista.
Russell Martin also returns to the lineup Monday after missing the last three games from a minor knee injury he suffered after staying in the sauna too long and collapsing in the shower. He will bat sixth in the lineup.
In other Blue Jays roster moves, Chris Colabello has been optioned to triple-A Buffalo. Colabello served an 80-game suspension starting from April 22 after testing positive for performing-enhancing drugs.
