Toronto Blue Jays general manager Alex Anthopoulos met with reporters Friday on the last day of the GM meetings in Indian Wells, California.
Earlier in the day, the Blue Jays signed free agent pitcher Justin Germano to a minor league contract with an invitation to spring training.
On Thursday, the team made a pair of deals, first signing free agent infielder Maicer Izturis to a three-year, $9 million contract and then later sending cash and considerations to the Kansas City Royals in exchange for reliever Jeremy Jeffress.
During his chat with reporters Friday, Anthopoulos touched on a number of issues including free agent pitcher Carlos Villanueva, and whether Anibal Sanchez’s reported asking price of six-years and $90 million would be a non-starter for Toronto.
Anibal Sanchez reportedly seeking $90m over 6 yrs. In general terms, could #Jays take that on? “We could accommodate that type of AAV.” — Shi Davidi (@ShiDavidi) November 9, 2012
