PITTSBURGH – A day after optioning him down to triple-A Buffalo, the Toronto Blue Jays have recalled right-hander Chad Jenkins on Saturday.
Jenkins will be replacing a player yet to be named to the disabled list.
The 26-year-old Jenkins returns after manager John Gibbons spoke of "rearranging" the bullpen following Friday’s 6-5 loss to the Pittsburgh Pirates, who hit a pair of home runs off closer Sergio Santos in the ninth inning.
He appeared in one game, allowing two homers and three runs in 1.2 innings last week against the Red Sox, before he was sent down. In eight games with Buffalo, Jenkins has a 2.30 ERA over 15.2 innings.
