Jarrod Saltalamacchia‘s time with the Toronto Blue Jays is officially over.
The team formally released the 32-year-old catcher Tuesday, marking the end of what was a very brief tenure in Toronto.
Saltalamacchia originally signed a minor-league deal with the the Blue Jays with an invitation to spring training in February.
He made the major-league roster as the opening day backup catcher but struggled mightily with a .040/.077/.040 batting line with 16 strikeouts to one walk across 10 games played.
The Blue Jays designated him for assignment on April 28.
Toronto was the seventh team Saltalamacchia played for across his 11-year big league career.
