TORONTO – The Toronto Blue Jays signed veteran right-hander Gavin Floyd to a major-league deal worth US$1-million Saturday.

Floyd, 33, appeared in seven games for the Cleveland Indians in 2015 before his season was shortened by an elbow fracture for the second straight year.

The 12-year veteran has a 72-72 career record and 4.38 earned-run average in 215 games, including 196 starts, with Philadelphia, Chicago White Sox, Atlanta and Cleveland.

To make room on the 40-man roster, right-hander Chad Jenkins has been designated for assignment.
