Buehrle, Jays look to slow down Yankees

Blue Jays starters Mark Buehrle and Josh Johnson have opposing Stanley Cup predictions.

The Toronto Blue Jays look to bounce back after a rough performance in the series-opening 9-4 loss to the New York Yankees.

Veteran left-hander Mark Buehrle takes the hill for the Blue Jays and is hoping to build off his best start of the season when he went 6.1 strong innings in a win over his former team, the Chicago White Sox, last Monday.

Blue Jays manager John Gibbons didn’t make any changes to the Jays’ lineup for Saturday’s game when they take on Yankees starter Hiroki Kuroda – who is 2-1 with 12 strikeouts, five walks, a 2.87 ERA, and 1.21 WHIP this season.

Jose Bautista will be back in the designated hitter position — after he returned to the lineup Friday with a solid showing at the plate that included a two-run home run.

Gibbons and the Blue Jays hope the Blue Jays can put together a more complete performance as they couldn’t contain the Yankees’ offence – including some familiar faces in Lyle Overbay and Vernon Wells who both homered for New York Friday.
