It appears Melky Cabrera will rejoin the Toronto Blue Jays.
Cabrera headed back to Toronto immediately after his exit after the fifth inning to end his rehab assignment with the Buffalo Bisons and was replaced by Munenori Kawasaki in the sixth.
He had two line drive hits and a sacrifice fly in his second rehab game with the Bisons.
“He can hit. It doesn’t matter which side of the plate you put him on, he’s got the ability to hit,” Bisons manager Marty Brown following the 12-3 loss versus Toledo Mud Hens Saturday night.
Brown also said he was not positive that Cabrera was 100 per cent healthy, but knows the Blue Jays want him back in their lineup.
“We wish him the best,” Brown said. “He goes about his job the right way.”
Cabrera had two hits and one RBI in the Bisons’ loss.
