Melky Cabrera and Sergio Santos are joining the Buffalo Bisons for rehab assignments beginning Thursday
Cabrera has been on the 15-day DL since June 27 with left knee tendinitis.
In 78 games this season, the veteran outfielder has hit .278/.321/.362/.684 with three home runs, 29 RBIs and 13 doubles.
The 28-year-old began his rehab assignment on July 12 with two games in single-A and two games in double-A.
The Blue Jays placed Santos, who has pitched only 4.1 innings this season, on the disabled list on Apr. 14 with a right triceps strain.
In five games, he recorded a 2.08 ERA with six strikeouts, and one walk.
After being acquired from the Chicago White Sox in exchange for prospect Nestor Molina in December of 2011, Santos played in just six games during the 2012 season before suffering shoulder inflammation that required surgery.
In other Jays news, J.A. Happ is set to begin his rehab assignment in single-A Dunedin.
He has not pitched since he was drilled in the head with a line drive by Desmond Jennings of the Tampa Bay Rays on May 8.
The Blue Jays placed Happ on the disabled list on May 8 with a head contusion.
