Construction begins on Rogers Centre dirt infield

As Faizal Khamisa reports, the 2016 Rogers Centre dirt infield facelift has officially begun.

Construction has begun on the new dirt infield that will be installed at Rogers Centre in time for the Toronto Blue Jays’ 2016 home opener.

Stephen Brooks, the Blue Jays’ senior vice president of business, shared photos of the infield Tuesday morning.

The Blue Jays announced last week that they plan to excavate 30 cm of concrete and replace it with layers of gravel, sand and clay.

Toronto will open at home against the Boston Red Sox on April 8.
