WASHINGTON — The Arizona Diamondbacks optioned rookie right-hander Zack Godley to Double-A Mobile on Wednesday and recalled right-handed reliever Allen Webster from Triple-A Reno.

Godley (3-0, 1.50 ERA) became just the second pitcher in club history to win in his first three outings after throwing six shutout innings in a 6-4 victory over the Washington Nationals on Monday night.

But with reliever Josh Collmenter throwing 8 1-3 innings in two outings over the last four days, Webster adds bullpen depth until righty starter Chase Anderson (triceps inflammation) makes his expected return this weekend.

"We run into that situation a lot where you do what you have to do, not what you want to do," Arizona chief baseball officer Tony La Russa said.
