Boston Red Sox pitcher David Price is continuing to experience stiffness in his throwing arm and manager John Farrell is unsure if he will return to the lineup this season.

Farrell provided an update on Price to reporters ahead of the team’s game against the New York Yankees.

Price has been on the disabled list since July 28 with left elbow inflammation. Earlier this week he took part in four consecutive days of flat-ground throwing sessions, but hasn’t thrown since Tuesday.

Daily updates from Boston-area reporters indicate the team is taking things day-by-day, but Farrell’s comments on Friday seem to indicate that there isn’t much time left to get him ready before the season ends.

Price also had an elbow injury earlier this year that kept him from making his season debut until May 29.

This season he’s made 11 starts for the Red Sox, posting a 5-3 record with a 3.82 ERA and 63 strikeouts.
