TORONTO — Devon Travis will meet up with the triple-A Buffalo Bisons in Lehigh Valley on Thursday to continue his rehab assignment. The second baseman could be ready to rejoin the Toronto Blue Jays sometime this weekend.

"Definitely by the beginning of next week, I would think," Blue Jays manager John Gibbons said. "He’s feeling good. Now he needs to get his swing going a little bit."

Travis has one hit in 11 at-bats for the double-A New Hampshire Fisher Cats over the first three games of his rehab stint as he recovers from left shoulder inflammation. He hasn’t reported any discomfort in his shoulder during or after his rehab games.

Travis first suffered the injury on April 30 in Cleveland when a groundball skipped up off the grass and caught him in the collarbone. He tried playing through the discomfort for two weeks but his production suffered and he was eventually shut down on May 17.

Travis was batting .325/.393/.625 with six home runs in 22 games prior to the injury, but he hit just .185/.241/.315 with one homer in 14 games after it.
