In 2011, Matt Kemp’s grandmother, Doris Mukes, told Sports Illustrated how much she hated her grandson’s tattoos and begged him to stop getting inked.
“I tell him, ‘You’ve got this beautiful body, and you mar it all up,’” Doris says.
Well, the Los Angeles Dodgers slugger didn’t listen. In fact, he maybe apologized?
The latest ink Kemp is supporting is a touching portrait of Doris and her late husband, Vernon, over his heart.
He tweeted a photo, saying that he wouldn’t be where he is today if it wasn’t for Doris and Vernon.
If it wasn’t for my grandparents I wouldn’t b where I’m at 2day! #RIP #PaPa @juncha instagr.am/p/Ub7_YOGzWf/ — Matt Kemp (@TheRealMattKemp) January 13, 2013

The tattoo was done by 23-year-old artist Jun Cha. The photo’s below can be seen on his website along with his other great illustrations.
A closer look depicts every little detail. I think Cha’s work will be greatly appreciated by Doris.
