Dodgers’ Ryu undergoes season-ending surgery

Los Angeles Dodgers left-hander Hyun-Jin Ryu has undergone season-ending surgery for a tear in his left shoulder.

The team said Thursday that the procedure done in Los Angeles went as well as could be expected, and Ryu should return by spring training next year.

The South Korean lefty had been the team’s projected No. 3 starter this season, but he never pitched because inflammation.

Ryu was 14-7 with a 3.38 ERA last year. He signed a $36 million, six-year deal in December 2012.
