Everyone has an opinion about Sunday’s dugout altercation between Jonathan Papelbon and Bryce Harper.

The controversial spat — and subsequent suspension of Pabelbon — has been front-of-mind for many sports fans, sparking the debate of whether or not it’s appropriate for teammates to air their dirty laundry outside the locker room.

Hockey Night in Canada’s Don Cherry, a longtime proponent of the “what is said in the dressing room stays in the dressing room” rule, came to the defence of Papelbon in his latest Twitter rant Tuesday morning.

“How anybody could blame Papelbon for confronting Harper boggles the mind,” said the voice of Coach’s Corner via Twitter. “Alright, Papelbon shouldn’t have done what he did to Harper on the bench.

“He should have waited for him in the tunnel and choked him there.”

According to Cherry, Harper was wrong to publicly call out Papelbon for hitting Manny Machado with a pitch in a prior game.

“Can you imagine how Papelbon felt when he heard that?” tweeted Cherry. “He’s having a tough time this year anyhow, now the so called face of baseball throws him under the bus, his own teammate.”
