Donaldson wins Players Choice Award for Player of the Year

Toronto Blue Jays third baseman Josh Donaldson has won the Hank Aaron Award as the American League’s top hitter as voted by fans and members of the media.

In an exceptional season where Josh Donaldson led the American League in runs and RBI, his work did not go unnoticed by his peers.

On Monday night, Major League baseball announced that the Toronto Blue Jays third baseman had earned the Players Choice Award for Player of the Year.

Donaldson hit .297/.371/.568 on the season hitting 41 home runs, driving in 123 and accumulating 8.7 Wins Above Replacement. The 29-year-old is also considered the favourite for the BBWAA MVP award.

Going into his second year of arbitration, Donaldson is in line for a significant raise from the $4.3 million he made last season. MLB Trade Rumors projects him to carry a $12 million price tag in 2016.

Unsurprisingly Donaldson also brought home the award for AL Most Outstanding Player. Check out the rest of the Players Choice winners here.
