Injured Toronto Blue Jays first baseman Edwin Encarnacion has suffered a setback on his road to recovery.

Encarnacion has been on the disabled list since July 7 after hurting his right quadriceps while trying to beat out a double-play relay against the Oakland Athletics on July 5.

The 31-year-old slugger had been putting together a career year before getting hurt, hitting .277/.368/.591 for a .959 OPS to go along with 26 home runs and 70 RBI in 328 at-bats spread across 88 games played.

The Blue Jays play the New York Yankees in the Bronx on Saturday, starting at 1:05 p.m. ET.
