Gibbons: Cecil looking like Blue Jays’ closer

Toronto Blue Jays manager John Gibbons talks about giving pitcher Brett Cecil a chance at being the team’s closer.

It appears as though the murky water that is the Toronto Blue Jays bullpen is beginning to clear.

According to Sportsnet’s Barry Davis, if John Gibbons had to set his relief corps today, Brett Cecil would be the closer with former all-star Steve Delabar and youngster Miguel Castro possibly assuming set-up roles.

Cecil is currently rehabbing from a shoulder issue, but tossed one inning in a minor-league game on Saturday and felt strong despite giving up a pair of doubles.

The left-hander was outstanding in 2014, pitching to a 2.70 ERA while registering five saves.
