Gibbons: Dickey to start potential Game 4 for Blue Jays

John Gibbons knows his team is facing three must-win situations, so he’s going to throw out all his big guns, even if it means bringing David Price out of the bullpen.

ARLINGTON, Texas — Toronto Blue Jays manager John Gibbons says R.A. Dickey will start a potential Game 4 versus the Texas Rangers in the American League Division Series, with David Price available in relief.

There has been speculation that Price could be brought back on short rest Monday if needed, but Gibbons said Sunday that, “we’re planning on Dickey starting. … He’s going to do it. There’s always a possibility Price could pitch some tomorrow, too.”

Price allowed five runs over seven innings in Game 1 but threw just 90 pitches.

The ace left-hander could also potentially be used for a batter or two in Sunday’s do-or-die Game 3, adding, “I wouldn’t necessarily count on it, but it could happen.”
