The Toronto Blue Jays hoped Colby Rasmus would avoid the disabled list, but his tight right hamstring requires a stint on the 15-day DL retroactive to May 13. The Blue Jays recalled Anthony Gose from the triple-A Buffalo Bisons in a related move Thursday, as Sportsnet’s Shi Davidi first reported.

Gibbons said Wednesday that he was hopeful Rasmus could return Thursday or Friday, but the team eventually decided to play it safe with the 27-year-old centre fielder.
In 37 games for the Blue Jays this year, Rasmus has a .222/.266/.489 batting line with nine home runs. Kevin Pillar started in centre field for the Blue Jays Wednesday against the Cleveland Indians, but Gose has more experience in centre.
Gose appeared in three games for the Blue Jays earlier in the year, collecting two hits and three walks in nine plate appearances. The 23-year-old has a .236/.317/.336 batting line in 124 plate appearances with the triple-A Buffalo Bisons.
