Kevin Kiermaier can play a little defence.
The Rays outfielder went to extreme lengths to protect a 1-0 lead against former Tampa Bay ace David Price Thursday, sprawling out in right-centre field before coming up with a ball off the bat of Rajai Davis.
Kiermaier might not be a household name just yet, but making athletic catches to help defeat a longtime franchise icon won’t hurt. He can hit a little bit, too. The 24-year-old rookie has a .778 OPS with 25 extra base hits in 78 games this year.
