John Gibbons ejected after argument with umpire

Is Danny Valencia out? He was called out on the tag, but the tag clearly missed when reviewed. Still, the call on the field stood, which led to manager John Gibbons getting tossed for further arguing the point.

Toronto Blue Jays manager John Gibbons was ejected in the fifth inning of Thursday’s game against the Boston Red Sox at Rogers Centre after an argument with home plate umpire Gerry Davis.

The ejection came after the Blue Jays challenged a tag play at the plate involving Boston catcher Ryan Hanigan and Toronto’s Danny Valencia.

The call was upheld after a lengthy review. It was the third time this season that Gibbons has been ejected.

Boston had an 8-4 lead after five innings.
