Lind, Encarnacion to re-join Jays this week

Adam Lind is expected to be back with the Toronto Blue Jays on Tuesday after the team designated reliever Brad Mills for assignment following Monday’s 11-1 loss in Seattle.

Lind has been out since July 11 with a foot injury that got interrupted by a back issue. He was batting .320/.389/.489, primarily against right-handed batting.

Mills was called up on Monday to bolster Toronto’s depleted bullpen following Sunday’s marathon win over the Detroit Tigers. The 29-year-old left-hander appeared in 2.1 innings of relief on Monday, giving up five earned runs on three hits and three walks while striking out two.

In other injury-related news, Edwin Encarnacion is headed to triple-A Buffalo to finish his rehab stint and is expected to return ahead of Friday’s series opener against the Chicago White Sox.

Encarnacion has been shelved since July 5 with a quadriceps ailment that got set back while he was taking practice swings. He was batting .277/.368./.591 with 26 home runs and 70 RBI.
