NEW YORK — San Francisco Giants shortstop Travious Relaford has been suspended for the first 50 games of next season following a second positive test for a drug of abuse under baseball’s minor league drug program.

Relaford, 23, hit .237 with one homer and 36 RBIs this year for Augusta of the Class A South Atlantic League.

The suspension, announced Monday by the commissioner’s office, was the 96th this year under the minor league program, including 38 for drugs of abuse.
